During college, I would collect a copy of a student-run culinary magazine called Bite every quarter — I always loved the photography covers and aside from the content, felt that the magazines would make great coffee table additions. At the same time, I saw room for illustrations. Thus, when the next recruitment cycle for contributors came around, I applied. The caveat is: They did not have a position for illustrators. Giving it my best shot, I filled up the application form, providing responses to questions that did not exist, and uploading art samples where writing samples usually would go. To my surprise, the Bite team was onboard with the idea and I soon joined the team as their very first illustrator! Below, I wanted to share with you all the page spreads I've contributed to, some of which I designed as well (I taught myself Adobe InDesign to accomplish this).
